Mercury

Mercury is a neurotoxin. Though harmless in insoluble forms, it is poisonous in soluble forms.

According to the US EPA, "The primary way people in the U.S. are exposed to mercury is by eating fish contaminated with methylmercury."

Coal-burning power plants are the number one way harmful mercury is released into the environment.

Recently, DTE Energy of Michigan has been charged by a Canadian citizen for its part in emitting mercury into the St. Clair River and contaminating its fish.
